I dedicate this poem to the parents and to the sons and daughters out there!

Oh parents dear, who once were happy and strong,

Now feeble and frail, with heads bowed,

Once you cared for us with all your might,

Now we see, but can’t feel the fading of your light.

We were too busy with our own lives,

Neglected to see your needs arise,

We took you for granted, thought we’d be there,

But now it seems like we’re nowhere.

You asked for our time, our love, and care,

But we were too busy to even spare,

We regret it now, with tears in our eyes,

As we watch both of you go weak and slowly fade away.

We wish we could turn back time,

And make it right to ease your mind,

But time’s cruel hand has already been dealt,

And our remorse is all that’s left.

We’ll make it up to you in every way,

By holding your hand, and never straying away,

We’ll cherish every moment, with love and care,

And make sure you know how much we appreciate you being there.

So now we’ll hold you tight and never let go,

And let our love and gratitude show,

For you, our parents, who gave us everything,

We’ll make it up to you, and hope it’s not already too late.
