In this world where the idea of love is often taken for granted, it’s important to take a step back and to ask ourselves this: what is the true meaning of love?

Love is one of the most important and widely discussed topics in our society today. There are many interpretations of what love is and what it means to different people.

Some believe that love is simply a strong emotional attachment, while others believe that it is much more than that.

Most experts agree that love is much more than just a strong emotional attachment. Love is about giving and receiving, and it involves caring for someone else’s well-being as much as your own.

When you truly love someone, you want what’s best for them, even if it means making sacrifices yourself. You also accept them for who they are, flaws and all.

Yes, in a world where so many people are quick to jump into relationships and even quicker to jump out of them, it’s important to know what love really is.

Love is not a feeling that you can just turn on and off at will. It’s not something that you can force yourself to feel for someone.

True love is something that is built over time. It’s a slow burn that starts with friendship and mutual respect and grows into something more over time.

Love is also not something that you can define in one simple sentence. For some people, love may be all about feeling a deep connection with another person.

For others, it may be more about giving than receiving. And still, for others, love may be more physical than emotional. The bottom line is that love means different things to different people.

Love is often thought of as an emotion or feeling, but it’s so much more than that. Love is an action. It’s about sacrifice, about giving of yourself for the benefit of another. It’s about putting someone else’s needs above your own and doing what’s best for them, even when it’s not easy.

True love is selfless. It’s not about what you can get from someone else, but what you can give to them. It’s about making a commitment to care for someone else, even when they don’t make it easy.

But do you know that the Bible gives us the true definition of love? And the Bible gives us exactly what the real meaning of love is!

Yes, the holy Bible says these things about love:

“Love is patient and kind; it is not jealous or conceited or proud; love is not ill-mannered or selfish or irritable; love does not keep a record of wrongs; love is not happy with evil, but is happy with the truth. Love never gives up; and its faith, hope, and patience never fail. Love is eternal.” (1 Corinthians 13:4–8)

Here’s the expanded version, or meaning, or contexts of 1 Corinthians 13:4–8

Love endures with patience and serenity. Love is kind and thoughtful, and is not jealous or envious; love does not brag and is not proud or arrogant. It is not rude; it is not self-seeking; it is not provoked [nor overly sensitive and easily angered]; it does not take into account a wrong endured. It does not rejoice at injustice, but rejoices with the truth [when right and truth prevail]. Love bears all things [regardless of what comes], believes all things [looking for the best in each one], hopes all things [remaining steadfast during difficult times], endures all things [without weakening]. Love never fails [it never fades nor ends]. (1 Corinthians 13:4–8)

Love means different things to different people, but the Bible very clearly says that love is universal in its meaning and that love is also eternal. Did you catch that?

Yes, we the people, and the society, do not define what love is, only the Bible can truly define love! Remember, in the Bible there is no occasional love, no temporary love, no partial love, no preferential love, no conditional love, and no “ifs” and “buts” kinds of love! Yes, the Bible doesn’t refer to love like these! The Bible even tells us to love our enemies and persecutors! (Matthew 5:44).

Also, we can love sinners (everyone’s a sinner; we’re all sinners), but we can’t love sin and sinful ways! Doing evil things is not love! And yes, lust is not love!

So, what is the true meaning of love? All we need to do really is to simply read and to always refer back to 1 Corinthians 13:4–8! Why? Because it is the only error-free, absolute, and ultimate meaning of what love is truly about, friends.

In conclusion, the only standard when it comes to defining love is what the Bible says. This is because the Bible is the Word of “God” (Yahweh) and His Word is the truth. The Bible is the authoritative source of love, and it should be consulted when defining love. Know also that love can conquer everything.

Therefore, we should always look to the Bible when we want to know what love is and how we should love others. Yes, true love is 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days per year. May you have the eyes and ears for this truth!
